Our Policies
Childcare Policy
Our Commitment
At Sunny Sitters, we are committed to providing safe, reliable, and engaging childcare in a professional, caring environment. Our caregivers strive to create a positive experience for every child while respecting each family’s routines, values, and parenting preferences.
Meet Your Prospective Sunny Sitter
Before your first booking is confirmed, you’ll enjoy a complimentary video consultation with your prospective Sunny Sitter. During this meeting, you’ll discuss your child’s routine, schedule, allergies, dietary requirements, medical information, comfort preferences, favourite activities, behavioural considerations, and any other important care instructions. This consultation helps ensure both your family and caregiver are comfortable before childcare begins.
Supervision
Our caregivers provide attentive, age-appropriate supervision throughout the booking.
Parents should provide clear instructions regarding routines, discipline preferences, screen time, nap schedules, and any specific care requirements.
Children may never be left unattended unless appropriate for their age and specifically authorised by a parent or guardian.
Water Safety
The safety of every child is our highest priority during water-related activities.
Swimming Pools
Children participating in pool activities should wear a properly fitted, age-appropriate flotation device unless the parent or guardian confirms the child is a competent swimmer and the caregiver is comfortable proceeding without one.
Sunny Sitters caregivers are not certified lifeguards or swimming instructors.
A caregiver may choose to enter the pool to engage with or supervise a child but is under no obligation to do so. Whether a caregiver enters the water is at their discretion, taking into account the child’s needs, the environment, and overall safety.
Parents are not required to remain present during supervised pool activities, provided prior permission has been given.
Beaches & Open Water
For all beach, ocean, river, lake, or other open-water activities, a parent or legal guardian must remain present and is responsible for supervising the child in and around the water.
Sunny Sitters caregivers will not enter the ocean or any natural body of water with children but may supervise from the shoreline or nearby area while the parent or guardian remains present.
If the parent or guardian leaves the beach or water area, all water activities must end immediately.
Sunny Sitters reserves the right to decline participation in any water activity if the caregiver believes conditions are unsafe.
Meals, Snacks & Bottle Preparation
Sunny Sitters does not provide food, beverages, infant formula, or baby food unless specifically authorised by the child’s parent or legal guardian.
During the pre-sitting consultation, families will discuss schedules, routines, allergies, dietary requirements, bottle preparation, medical considerations, comfort items, and any other important care instructions.
Parents are responsible for providing all meals, snacks, infant formula, breast milk, bottles, and any special dietary items required during the booking.
Our caregivers are happy to prepare simple meals, warm pre-prepared food, prepare bottles, and serve food using ingredients supplied by the parent or guardian.
Parents are responsible for informing Sunny Sitters of any changes to allergies, dietary requirements, or feeding instructions before future bookings.
Health & Medical Information
Parents must disclose all relevant medical conditions, allergies, medications, dietary restrictions, behavioural considerations, and emergency contacts before care begins.
Sunny Sitters caregivers are Child & Infant CPR and First Aid certified but are not medical professionals.
Medication will only be administered with prior parental authorisation and clear instructions.
Illness
Please notify Sunny Sitters before your booking if your child develops a contagious illness or symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, or other infectious conditions.
Sunny Sitters reserves the right to postpone or decline services where illness may present a health risk.
Safe Environment
Parents are responsible for providing a reasonably safe environment for both the child and caregiver.
Services may be refused or discontinued where there is violence, illegal activity, dangerous pets, unsafe living conditions, or any circumstance that places the caregiver or child at risk.
Positive Guidance
Our caregivers use positive reinforcement, encouragement, and age-appropriate redirection.
Physical punishment, verbal abuse, intimidation, or humiliation will never be used.
Privacy
All family information is treated confidentially.
Photos or videos of children will never be shared publicly without the written consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Acceptance
By confirming a booking, parents acknowledge that they have read and accepted these Childcare Policies.
